We Can Do More!

With the support of the German Foundation for Engagement and Volunteering, we are currently running the ‘We Can Do More’ project. The aim is to get African associations in Berlin more involved in integration work.

Around 10,000 refugees from African countries and around 70,000 people with an African migration background live in Berlin. The number of associations in the African community in Berlin is estimated at 160.

Many of these organisations - including regional associations, sports clubs, social clubs and cultural associations - could make a greater contribution to supporting refugees.

With our project, we are creating a central contact point that networks African associations and provides them with information on the situation and challenges of refugees and other new arrivals.

We show the associations specific ways in which they can become active in integration work and provide information about existing support options.

Ultimately, we want to bring the associations together to work together - to identify the needs of refugees and to develop and realise project concepts.
